Job summary

Duke Energy's Fuel Mechanical Performance group in the Nuclear Fuels Engineering Division seeks engineers to solve fuel mechanical problems and support plant operations. This role emphasizes collaboration, learning across analysis and plant support tasks, and communicating with internal teams and vendors.

The position requires working in a team-focused, supplier-customer oriented environment with flexible hybrid work arrangements and travel as needed to support projects and site evaluations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience with at least 1 year of nuclear experience.
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering with a related ABET-accredited BS also accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering/technical guidance in identification, analysis and resolution of routine problems in fuel mechanical performance.
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations and sketches for resolution of routine problems.
  • Develop fuel/core component design specifications and manage lifetime analyses.
