Job summary

Olsson seeks a skilled FTTx Designer in Des Moines, IA to create fiber-to-the-x designs, size serving boundaries, analyze data, determine routes, and produce constructible plan sets using GIS.

Ideal candidates have 3–6 years FTTx design, map-reading and PDF-editing skills (Bluebeam/Adobe), and a degree (associate or bachelor) or equivalent experience. This full-time role offers competitive benefits and a collaborative culture that supports community impact.

Qualifications

• Read, interpret, and create maps and plan sets.
• PDF editing with Bluebeam or Adobe.
• Associate’s/bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• General knowledge of FTTx/OSP networks and associated practices.
• 3–6 years of FTTx design and/or OSP experience.

Responsibilities

• Size serving boundaries using GIS address data and analyze large datasets.
• Determine feeder and distribution routes and drops to premises using parcel, ROW and easement data.
• Review field staking sheets, as-builts, and field data to select optimal running line and construction method.
• Produce and review high-quality constructible plan sets using GIS-based software.
