Job summary

VTX1 is seeking a Field Technician to install, activate, test, and maintain FTTH services, including ONTs and routers. You will perform fiber splicing in aerial, buried, and underground environments and troubleshoot network issues using OTDRs and power meters.

You will read splice diagrams and maps, conduct site surveys for serviceability, and maintain documentation. The role requires safety compliance, ability to lift heavy tools, and standby for emergencies.

Qualifications

• Experience installing FTTH services and customer premise equipment.
• Able to perform fiber splicing in aerial, buried, and underground environments.
• Knowledge of testing equipment (OTDR, power meters, light sources).
• Ability to read fiber maps and splice diagrams for installations.

Responsibilities

• Install, activate, test, and maintain FTTH services including ONTs and routers.
• Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of single-mode fiber in various environments.
• Interpret fiber maps, splice diagrams, and construction staking sheets.
• Utilize OTDRs and power meters to troubleshoot fiber optic networks.
• Diagnose and repair impairments across fiber, copper, and broadband services.
• Perform fiber restoration during outages and emergencies.
• Install, configure, and maintain Fixed Wireless customer premise equipment.
• Conduct site surveys for serviceability and line-of-sight requirements.
• Analyze wireless metrics (RSSI, SNR, fade margin) for optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot wired and wireless networks and customer devices.
• Terminate and document cabling systems and perform preventive maintenance.
• Respond to outages during standby and call-out assignments.
