Job summary

Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital is seeking a Full-time Patient Transporter at the Lancaster, PA campus. The role runs 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., with rotating weekends.

You will greet, guide, and transport patients and move equipment across departments within the hospital. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, CPR certification, and the ability to work independently while communicating effectively with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Greet, guide, and transport inpatients within hospital setting for all departments.
  • Transport scheduled patients to all areas of the hospital and retrieve/deliver equipment and supplies.
  • Perform patient transfers on and off transport equipment.
  • Maintain and inventory equipment according to department standards.
  • Monitor condition of wheelchairs and litters and initiate repair through appropriate channels.
  • Maintain transport system schedules.
  • Respond to phone calls and reschedule patients as needed.
  • Document patient care accurately and promptly per department standards.
  • Report unusual situations or patient conditions to responsible personnel.
  • Provide basic comfort, support and safety to patients and act as patient advocate.
  • Respond promptly to assistance requests.
  • Demonstrate proper responses to emergency situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect patient rights.
  • Participate in on‑call duties as required and complete other assigned duties.

Full‑time Patient Transporter – 11a to 8:30p, rotating weekends.

Responsibilities

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient with computer and scheduling systems.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS required).
Physical Requirements
  • Stand continuously; walk continuously; sit occasionally; bend, push, pull, reach, twist, balance occasionally.
  • Move objects up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly.
Environment
  • Exposure to biological hazards and bloodborne pathogens.
