THE SALVATION ARMY JOB DESCRIPTION

Participates in the maintenance of center facilities performing preventative maintenance to reduce future problems. General knowledge and the ability to perform general maintenance related to the facilities including but not limited to minor plumbing, electrical, painting, and minor facilities maintenance. Ensures maintenance activities operate within established policies, procedures, and local, state, and federal regulations.

Essential Functions

Maintenance Responsibilities
  1. Plans, schedules, and responds to repair work, ensuring timely completion.
  2. Inspects equipment or machines in need of repair.
  3. Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
  4. Performs general repairs such as minor electrical/plumbing maintenance, painting, door repairs, and other building fixtures.
  5. Performs routine maintenance on equipment and building systems.
  6. Orders supplies and materials for repairs and maintenance.
  7. Fixes safety hazards and reports potential hazards to management.
  8. Performs preventive measures to reduce future problems.
  9. Monitors ongoing work to ensure repairs are complete and accurate.
  10. Operates equipment in accordance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
  11. Maintains tools and equipment in good condition; recommends purchases as needed.
  12. Prepares and maintains accurate production reports.
  13. Ensures cleanliness and orderliness of the shop area.
  14. Drives to various locations to perform maintenance; provides records as required.
  15. Recommends third-party repair vendors when necessary.
  16. Acts professionally to foster positive relationships with vendors, donors, customers, beneficiaries, co-workers, and management.
Other Responsibilities

Performs additional job-related tasks as assigned.

Materials and Equipment

Paint, drills, screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches, pliers, sanders, saws, and other repair tools.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, read manuals, and understand general maintenance procedures. Skilled in using power tools and hand tools.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred, with two years of experience in minor electrical/plumbing and facilities repair, or equivalent training and experience.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid State Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements

Must meet attendance requirements. Capable of prolonged walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and climbing. Able to lift over 100 pounds occasionally.

Working Conditions

Primarily in a warehouse environment with exposure to weather, noise, dust, and dirt.
