Job summary

University Behavioral Health of Denton is a private freestanding psychiatric hospital in North Texas seeking an Intake Counselor. You will perform risk assessments to identify the appropriate level of care for potential patients.

This role handles telephonic and in-person assessments, coordinates referrals and admissions, and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. You will verify and obtain prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in psychology, social work or related field preferred.
• 1–3 years experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility preferred.
• Licensed in Texas as LPC-Associate, LPC, LMSW, LCSW or RN.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Intake Counselor provides telephonic and in-person risk assessment to assist the physician in identification of appropriate level of care for potential patients. The Intake Counselor is the initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. The Intake Counselor is responsible for the verification and prior authorization of insurance benefits as needed.

Qualifications
