Job summary

City Colleges of Chicago, Daley College, invites applications for a full-time Manufacturing faculty position on a tenure-track. The role entails teaching welding, factory automation and CNC machining, developing SLOs, and integrating new technologies to prepare students for industry certifications.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's in Industrial Technology or related field with at least two industry credentials; salary range $58,000–$65,000; Chicago residency required within six months;

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering or a related technical field and at least two industry credentials from the American Welding Society, the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC), MANational Institute Metalworking Skills (NIMS), the American Society of Quality (ASQ), the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), IBEW journeyman or 8 years of experience in manufacturing, including experience in production or industrial maintenance and at least 2 industry credentials from the above mentioned professional associations.

Responsibilities

  • Teach manufacturing technology skills including welding, factory automation and/or CNC machining.
  • Model best practices in shop especially in regard to safety, quality assurance and process improvement.
  • Create lesson plans and projects to engage students in applied math and science relevant to manufacturing.
  • Simulate real work experiences through project-based learning in classroom & shop exercises.
  • Provide instruction to address the 3 common learning styles: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic that result in industry certifications.
  • Lead syllabus development to deliver student learning outcomes (SLOs), providing a learning map for students to manage expectations of both students and instructors.
  • Lead PeopleSoft skill development to provide self service access to student administration, including but not limited to entry of grades.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology or related field
Two industry credentials (Welding/MSCC/NIMS/ASQ/SME/ASME/IBEW journeyman)

Salary range: $58,000 - $65,000

Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and applicant's education.

Please note: This position may require full teaching in-person, as hybrid schedules are not guaranteed. The starting salary for this role ranges from $58,000 to $65,000 annually. This is a tenure-track position. This position is represented by the Local 1600 CCCTU.

Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.
