Primary Purpose
Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates
- Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and the coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations
- Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture
- Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
- Create a positive shopping experience by maintaining enthusiastic customer awareness, emphasizing fast, easy, flexible, and friendly customer service
- Role model outstanding, friendly customer service and use skills and knowledge of department products to offer solutions that meet or exceed customers’ expectations
- Control store expenses through proper ordering, care for supplies and equipment
- Use company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems; understand and utilize the Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS)
- Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety, and sanitation standards
- Write Deli Bakery HMS schedules to ensure extraordinary customer service at all times, creating schedules every other week
- Ensure proper ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise according to policies and guidelines
- Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and report all accidents accordingly
- Monitor shrinkage and provide coaching to prevent inventory losses
- Utilize advertising and sales promotion materials effectively
- Adhere to company guidelines, policies, and standards; maintain security standards
- Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance and comply with dress code
- Complete required training courses and meet physical requirements of the position
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to lead and manage a team
- Understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques preferred
- Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills
- Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements
- Ability to solve problems using technical information
- Minimum age requirements met
- Certification as a Food Safety Manager by the National Registry or similar organization within 90 days of employment, maintained during employment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use computers and communication systems
- Push or pull up to 2000 pounds with a pallet jack
- Lift and handle products weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Stand continuously, with frequent walking
- Handle various cleaning and packaging substances
- Perform repetitive motions and reach at various heights
- Work in extreme temperatures for short durations
- Sufficient visual acuity to check documents
