Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Manage the Produce Department, including hiring, training and developing department associates.
  2. Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provide ongoing performance management, training and conduct timely formal performance appraisals for direct reports.
  3. Manage labor daily (expected live) and coach associates to achieve productivity expectations.
  4. Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and Strategy.
  5. Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
  6. Create an enthusiastic customer atmosphere with a focus on fast, easy, flexible, and friendly service to ensure a positive shopping experience.
  7. Model outstanding, friendly customer service and use product knowledge to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  8. Control store expenses through proper ordering, supplies, and equipment care.
  9. Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, CAO, and business information systems.
  10. Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation standards.
  11. Write department schedules to ensure excellent customer service at all times.
  12. Understand and manage scheduling, sales, projections, wages, interviewing, hiring, training, and other department management tasks.
  13. Ensure proper ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise in accordance with policies.
  14. Monitor and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
  15. Record and report accidents per procedures.
  16. Monitor shrinkage and coach staff to prevent losses.
  17. Ensure proper use of advertising, sales promotion materials, and signage.
  18. Comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  19. Adhere to company policies and standards.
  20. Maintain security standards.
  21. Complete required training courses.
  22. Recognize achievements and provide constructive feedback to enhance customer satisfaction and sales.
  23. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  3. Understanding of store operations preferred.
  4. Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
  5. Ability to solve problems using technical information.
  6. Leadership skills to direct others.
  7. Meet minimum age requirements.
  8. Ability to meet physical requirements with or without accommodations.
  9. Certified Food Safety Manager accreditation or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
  1. Proficiency with computers and communication systems.
  2. Ability to use handheld computers for various tasks.
  3. Stand continuously, walk short distances frequently.
  4. Push or pull up to 2000 lbs with equipment.
  5. Perform repetitive motions.
  6. Bend and lift weights as specified.
  7. Handle cleaning and packaging substances.
  8. Reach and grasp at various levels.
  9. Meet volume activity standards.
  10. Work in extreme temperatures temporarily.
  11. Visual ability to check documents.
