Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage the Produce Department, including hiring, training and developing department associates
  • Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provide ongoing performance management, training and conduct timely formal performance appraisals for direct reports
  • Manage labor expectations and coach associates to achieve productivity goals
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and Strategy
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
  • Create a positive shopping environment with fast, friendly customer service
  • Model outstanding customer service and use product knowledge to meet customer expectations
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering and care for supplies and equipment
  • Utilize company tools such as financial reports, inventory systems, scheduling, and business information systems
  • Maintain department appearance, quality, safety, food safety, and sanitation standards
  • Write schedules to ensure excellent customer service at all times
  • Understand and manage scheduling, sales, projections, hiring, training, and other departmental responsibilities
  • Ensure proper ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise
  • Monitor and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents
  • Record and report accidents according to procedures
  • Monitor inventory shrinkage and coach staff to prevent losses
  • Ensure proper use of advertising and promotional signage
  • Comply with all regulations and company policies
  • Maintain security standards
  • Complete required training courses
  • Recognize accomplishments and provide constructive feedback
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills
  • Understanding of store operations preferred
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements
  • Problem-solving skills using technical information
  • Leadership ability to direct others
  • Must meet minimum age requirements
  • Physical ability to perform job duties with or without accommodations
  • Certification as Food Safety Manager or ability to obtain within 90 days
Physical Requirements
  • Proficiency with computers and communication systems
  • Ability to use handheld computers for orders and inventory
  • Stand and walk frequently
  • Push or pull heavy loads with equipment
  • Perform repetitive motions and lift weights as specified
  • Handle cleaning and packaging substances safely
  • Reach, grasp, and work in extreme temperatures
  • Sufficient visual ability for reading and checking documents
