Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store, and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates
  • Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
  • Maintain an enthusiastic customer service atmosphere, emphasizing fast, easy, friendly service to create a positive shopping experience
  • Model outstanding, friendly customer service and use product knowledge to offer solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering, supplies, and equipment care
  • Use company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems effectively
  • Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation standards
  • Ensure Deli Bakery HMS schedules are written biweekly to provide exceptional customer service
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display of merchandise according to policies
  • Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and record/report accidents per procedures
  • Monitor inventory shrinkage and coach staff to prevent losses
  • Utilize advertising and promotional materials appropriately
  • Adhere to company policies, guidelines, and standards
  • Maintain security standards and personal appearance standards
  • Complete required training courses
  • Meet physical requirements of the role with or without accommodations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Understanding of store operations and merchandising preferred
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Willingness to learn technical aspects of the job
  • Ability to solve problems using technical information
  • Minimum age requirements met
  • Certified Food Safety Manager accreditation or ability to obtain within 90 days
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to operate computers and communication systems
  • Push/pull up to 2000 lbs with equipment
  • Lift up to 50 lbs, perform repetitive motions, and work in extreme temperatures
  • Visual ability to check documents
