Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store, and throughout the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the Grocery Department, including hiring, training, and developing department associates.
  • Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates, provide ongoing performance management, training, and conduct formal performance appraisals for direct reports.
  • Manage labor daily and coach associates to achieve productivity expectations.
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture aligned with our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision, and Strategy.
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
  • Create a positive shopping environment with enthusiastic customer service, ensuring a fast, easy, flexible, and friendly experience.
  • Model outstanding customer service, using product knowledge to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering, and care for supplies and equipment.
  • Utilize company tools such as financial reports, inventory systems, scheduling, and business information systems.
  • Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, and sanitation.
  • Ensure department schedules provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • Understand and manage scheduling, sales, projections, wages, hiring, training, and other operational aspects.
  • Ensure merchandise ordering, receiving, preparation, and display adhere to policies.
  • Observe and correct unsafe conditions, report accidents, monitor shrink, and assist with inventory.
  • Ensure promotional materials and signage are properly used.
  • Comply with regulations and company policies, maintain security standards.
  • Complete required training courses.
  • Recognize accomplishments and provide counseling as needed to achieve customer satisfaction and sales goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Understanding of store operations preferred.
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
  • Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
  • Leadership skills to direct others.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements and physical demands.
  • Certification as Food Safety Manager or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
  • Proficiency with computers and communication systems.
  • Ability to stand, walk, push/pull, lift, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Ability to handle substances related to cleaning and packaging.
  • Meet activity standards and tolerate working in extreme temperatures.
  • Sufficient visual ability for reading invoices and documents.
