Primary Purpose
Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage the Grocery Department, including hiring, training and developing department associates
- Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provides ongoing performance management, training and conducts timely formal performance appraisals for direct reports
- Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations
- Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and Strategy
- Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
- Create a positive shopping experience by maintaining an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast, easy, flexible, and friendly customer service
- Role model outstanding, friendly customer service and use skills and knowledge of department products to offer solutions that meet or exceed customers’ expectations
- Control store expenses through proper ordering, care for supplies and equipment
- Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, CAO, and business information systems
- Ensure department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation are maintained
- Write grocery department schedules to ensure excellent customer service at all times
- Understand and manage scheduling, sales, projections, wages, interviewing, hiring, training, and other management functions
- Manage ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies and guidelines
- Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents
- Record and report accidents following Food Lion procedures
- Monitor shrinkage and provide coaching to prevent losses
- Assist with bi-annual physical inventory
- Ensure proper use of advertising, sales promotion materials, and signage
- Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies
- Maintain security standards
- Complete required training courses
- Recognize accomplishments and provide constructive feedback to enhance customer satisfaction and store sales
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills
- Understanding of store operations preferred
- Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements
- Problem-solving skills using technical information
- Ability to lead and direct others
- Must meet minimum age requirements
- Physical ability to perform job duties with or without accommodations
- Certified Food Safety Manager accreditation or willingness to obtain within 90 days
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use computers and communication systems
- Stand and walk frequently
- Push or pull up to 2000 pounds with equipment
- Perform repetitive motions
- Lift up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and up to 100 lbs. occasionally
- Handle cleaning and packaging substances safely
- Meet activity standards and tolerate working in extreme temperatures
- Visual ability to check invoices and documents
