Primary Purpose

Support store operations to meet financial and sales goals, build associate and customer relations, and promote a strong culture aligned with Food Lion Strategy. Maintain effective communication with the management team, store associates, and the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the Grocery Department, including hiring, training, and developing associates.
  • Supervise department duties, conduct performance appraisals, and manage ongoing training.
  • Manage labor and coach associates to meet productivity expectations.
  • Lead and motivate the store to promote our Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision, and Strategy.
  • Support achievement of financial and operational targets.
  • Create a positive shopping environment with excellent customer service.
  • Model friendly customer service and use product knowledge to meet customer expectations.
  • Control expenses through proper ordering and care for supplies and equipment.
  • Utilize company tools such as financial reports, inventory systems, scheduling, and business information systems.
  • Maintain department appearance, quality, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Ensure proper scheduling for optimal customer service.
  • Understand scheduling, sales, projections, hiring, and other management functions.
  • Oversee merchandise ordering, receiving, and display in accordance with policies.
  • Monitor safety conditions and report accidents per procedures.
  • Manage inventory shrinkage and assist with bi-annual physical inventory.
  • Utilize advertising, signage, and sales promotion materials appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain security standards.
  • Complete required training courses.
  • Recognize accomplishments and provide constructive feedback.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Understanding of store operations preferred.
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
  • Problem-solving skills using technical information.
  • Leadership abilities to direct others.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements.
  • Physical ability to perform job functions, with or without accommodations.
  • Certification as Food Safety Manager or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
  • Proficiency with computers and communication systems.
  • Ability to use handheld computers for orders, scans, and inventory.
  • Stand and walk frequently.
  • Push/pull up to 2000 lbs. with equipment.
  • Perform repetitive motions and lift up to 25-100 lbs. as needed.
  • Handle cleaning and packaging substances safely.
  • Reach and grasp at various levels.
  • Work in extreme temperatures for short periods.
  • Sufficient visual ability for reading invoices and documents.
