Dallas Theological Seminary's Dallas Campus is seeking a Bookstore Assistant Manager to support daily bookstore operations. Responsibilities

  • Assist with general administrative tasks related to Bookstore operations including website management, inventory processes, and weekly deposits.
  • Manage textbook operations including distributing and collecting forms, inputting textbook lists, and assisting with ordering.
  • Monitor and manage the Bookstore's shared inbox.
  • Serve as a resource for part-time staff and support their training.
  • Coordinate staff availability and daily task assignments to meet bookstore needs.
  • Assist in interviewing candidates and training new hires for part-time positions.
  • Plan staff meetings and team-building activities.
  • Assist with opening and closing processes and provide debriefs on activity, customer needs, staffing, and operational concerns.
  • Monitor daily store operations and communicate issues or needs to the Bookstore Manager.
  • Assist with creating and refreshing product displays and promotional areas.
  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Plan and execute bookstore events on or near campus.

Salary Range: $18.26 - $22.83 Hourly

The Bookstore Assistant Manager supports the day-to-day operations of the Dallas Theological Seminary Bookstore by assisting with store management, staff supervision, customer service, inventory and textbook operations, and administrative responsibilities. This position works closely with the Bookstore Manager and serves as a resource and support for part-time Bookstore staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative Support
  • Assist with general administrative tasks related to Bookstore operations including website management, inventory processes, and weekly deposits.
  • Manage textbook operations including distributing and collecting textbook forms, inputting textbook lists, and assisting with ordering.
  • Monitor and manage the Bookstore's shared inbox.
Part-Time Staff Support & Supervision
  • Serve as a resource for part-time Bookstore employees and be available to answer questions during shifts.
  • Assist part-time employees with developing skills through ongoing training.
  • Conduct regular, informal check‑ins with staff and communicate staffing or performance concerns to the Bookstore Manager as appropriate.
  • Coordinate staff availability and assign daily tasks to meet the needs of the Bookstore.
  • Assist the Bookstore Manager in interviewing candidates and training new hires for part‑time positions.
  • Work with Manager to plan and schedule staff meetings, team‑building activities, and team celebrations
Store Operations
  • Assist with the store's opening and closing processes and provide appropriate debriefs regarding store activity, customer needs, staffing, and operational concerns.
  • Monitor daily store operations and communicate issues or needs to the Bookstore Manager.
  • Assist with creating and refreshing product displays and promotional areas.
  • Provide excellent, friendly, and knowledgeable service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Assist with planning and executing bookstore‑related events and special events hosted on or near campus.
