Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates.
  2. Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and the coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations.
  3. Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture.
  4. Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
  5. Smile and maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on fast, easy, flexible, and friendly customer service, creating a positive shopping experience.
  6. Role model outstanding, friendly customer service and use skills and knowledge of department products to offer solutions that meet or exceed customers’ expectations.
  7. Control store’s expenses through proper ordering, care for supplies and equipment.
  8. Understand and use company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems. Understands and utilizes the Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS).
  9. Perform duties to ensure department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety, and sanitation are consistently maintained.
  10. Ensure Deli Bakery HMS schedules are written to provide extraordinary customer service at all times, creating schedules bi-weekly.
  11. Ensure that ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise are done according to policies and guidelines.
  12. Observe and correct all unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
  13. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  14. Record and report all associate and customer accidents following established procedures.
  15. Monitor shrinkage and provide coaching to recognize and prevent inventory losses.
  16. Ensure proper utilization of advertising and sales promotion materials related to Deli Bakery HMS.
  17. Maintain security standards and a neat personal appearance, adhering to dress code policies.
  18. Complete required training courses, including Computer Based Training (CBT) and others.
  19. Meet physical requirements of the role, with or without accommodation.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Ability to lead and manage a team.
  3. Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising preferred.
  4. Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills.
  5. Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
  6. Ability to solve problems using technical information.
  7. Must meet minimum age requirements.
  8. Certification as a Food Safety Manager by the National Registry or similar organization, or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
  1. Ability to use computers and communication systems.
  2. Ability to push/pull up to 2000 lbs with a pallet jack.
  3. Lift weights up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive motions.
  4. Stand for extended periods and handle substances related to cleaning and packaging.
  5. Meet activity standards and tolerate working in extreme temperatures.
  6. Sufficient visual ability to check documents.
