Primary Purpose

Support store operations to meet financial and sales goals, build relationships, and promote a strong store culture aligned with Food Lion Strategy. Maintain effective communication with management, staff, and the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, supervising all associated duties.
  2. Oversee daily labor management and coach associates to meet productivity expectations.
  3. Provide leadership and motivation to foster a positive store environment.
  4. Support achievement of financial and operational targets.
  5. Create a welcoming atmosphere focused on fast, friendly customer service.
  6. Model excellent customer service and utilize product knowledge to meet customer needs.
  7. Control expenses through proper ordering and care for supplies and equipment.
  8. Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, and inventory systems.
  9. Maintain department appearance, safety, food safety, and sanitation standards.
  10. Ensure proper scheduling for exceptional customer service.
  11. Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies.
  12. Monitor safety conditions and ensure compliance with regulations.
  13. Record and report accidents, manage shrink, and prevent inventory losses.
  14. Use advertising and sales promotion materials effectively.
  15. Adhere to company policies, security standards, and dress code.
  16. Complete required training courses and meet physical requirements.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Leadership and management skills.
  • Understanding of store operations and merchandising preferred.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Willingness to learn technical aspects of the job.
  • Minimum age requirements met.
  • Certified Food Safety Manager accreditation or ability to obtain within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
  • Proficiency with computers and communication systems.
  • Ability to push/pull heavy loads, lift weights, and stand for extended periods.
  • Handle cleaning and packaging substances safely.
  • Perform repetitive motions and reach above/below waist level.
  • Work in extreme temperatures for short durations.
  • Good visual acuity for checking documents.
