Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates
  • Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and the coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
  • Create a positive shopping experience by providing fast, friendly, and flexible customer service
  • Model outstanding customer service and utilize product knowledge to offer solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering and care for supplies and equipment
  • Understand and utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems
  • Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation standards
  • Ensure Deli Bakery HMS schedules are written to provide exceptional customer service, creating schedules bi-weekly
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies
  • Monitor and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and company policies
  • Record and report accidents following procedures
  • Monitor inventory shrinkage and coach staff on loss prevention
  • Utilize advertising and promotional materials effectively
  • Maintain security standards and personal appearance guidelines
  • Complete required training courses and meet physical requirements of the role
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Leadership and management skills
  • Knowledge of store operations and merchandising preferred
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical skills
  • Ability to solve problems using technical information
  • Must meet age requirements and be certified as a Food Safety Manager within 90 days of employment
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to operate computers and communication systems
  • Ability to push/pull heavy loads with equipment
  • Lift and handle products weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Stand and walk frequently, handle substances, perform repetitive motions
  • Work in extreme temperatures for short periods
  • Sufficient visual acuity to read documents
