Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store, and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates.
  • Daily management of labor (expected live) and coaching associates to achieve productivity expectations.
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture.
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
  • Maintain a positive, enthusiastic customer service atmosphere, ensuring fast, friendly, and flexible service to create a positive shopping experience.
  • Model outstanding customer service and use product knowledge to offer solutions exceeding customer expectations.
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering, and care for supplies and equipment.
  • Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, and ordering systems effectively.
  • Maintain department appearance, quality, safety, and sanitation standards consistently.
  • Ensure Deli Bakery HMS schedules are created biweekly to provide excellent customer service.
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies.
  • Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and record all accidents per procedures.
  • Monitor inventory shrinkage and coach staff to prevent losses.
  • Utilize advertising and sales promotion materials appropriately.
  • Adhere to company policies, standards, and security protocols.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and comply with dress code.
  • Complete required training courses and meet physical requirements of the role.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Leadership and team management skills.
  • Understanding of store operations and merchandising preferred.
  • Effective communication, customer service, and sales skills.
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements.
  • Ability to solve problems using technical information.
  • Must meet minimum age requirements and be certified as a Food Safety Manager or attend training to achieve certification within 90 days.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to operate computers and communication systems.
  • Push/pull up to 2000 lbs with a pallet jack.
  • Lift up to 15 lbs continuously, 25 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Push/pull up to 75 lbs occasionally.
  • Stand continuously, with frequent walking.
  • Handle cleaning and packaging substances safely.
  • Perform repetitive motions, reach, grasp, and tolerate temperature extremes.
  • Sufficient visual acuity for checking documents.
