Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis is seeking a full-time Assessment & Simulation Lab Tech to support daily operations of the nursing simulation lab. You will program simulators, assist with scenarios, manage equipment, and ensure a safe, well-equipped learning environment for students and faculty.

Responsibilities include operating simulation consoles, recording activities, and maintaining supplies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Background in science or the healthcare field recommended.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree OR 3-year equivalent work experience.

  • Assist with setup of simulators, equipment, and accessories for simulations.
  • Inventory, stock, and maintain supplies in labs.
  • Orient students and faculty to the simulation lab.
  • Provide technical support to students and faculty.
  • Operate simulation console and software during scenarios.
  • Record and review simulation activities.
  • Return labs to pre-scenario condition and salvage supplies.

Our work strengthens individuals, families, communities, and the future of Indiana.About the Role:Under the direction of the Program Chair of Nursing, performs duties in collaboration with faculty and simulation staff to prepare the nursing skills lab and simulation for students' use.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintain assigned simulation and skills laboratories in support of instructional programsPerforms basic programming of simulators for practice scenarios as instructed by simulation staffAssists simulation staff with scenarios and operation of simulators as neededAssists with set up of simulators, equipment, and accessories as needed for special occasionsInventories, stocks, and maintains supplies in HPS and skills laboratoriesMaintains clean, well-equipped labs and facilitates a supportive student learning environmentRecommends and/or performs general cleaning and laundry in the nursing simulation laboratory and skills labPerforms other duties as assignedCustomer Service Overriding Expectation:Demonstrate strong customer service and/or employee advocacy through a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, strong problem-solving and desire to identify and support employee success.Engage in behaviors that create an inclusive environment in which all people are valued and supported.Go beyond the easiest or surface answer for an employee, or an internal or external customer, and get to the root cause of the problem, question or issue to solve it as quickly and professionally as possible.Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:Supports daily operations of clinical learning lab.Orient students and faculty to simulation labProvides technical support to students and facultyMaintains currency in field of Simulation TechnologyAssess and communicates supply needs to Nursing Simulation CoordinatorPre-Simulation Activities:Program patient scenarios and setup simulated patient environment and control room for simulation activityPrepare scenario props and create scenario moulageAssemble pre-simulation learning materialsAssist in creating documentation for scenarioSimulation Activities:Operate simulation console and softwareManipulate simulator during scenarioRecord simulation activities in approved format (.mov, .flv, .avi, .mp4, .wmv)Assist faculty in managing recording equipmentAssist faculty in monitoring students' safetyProvide theatrical support (including moulage and voice over)Post-Simulation Activities:Operate debriefing equipmentProvide feedback for improving simulation experience to the simulation coordinatorReturn Simulation lab to pre-scenario conditionSalvage re-usable supplies and repackageProvide required recorded scenarios, in approved formatThe above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Computer technology required, background in science or the healthcare field, recommended.Preferred Qualifications:Any combination of the listed experience and education are indicative of preparation likely to impart the knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the essential job requirements: Associate's or Bachelor's degree OR 3-year equivalent work experienceWorking Conditions:Duties are performed in an instructional laboratory environment. Incumbents are subject to noise from equipment and repetitive motion.Physical Demands:Must see clearly to operate equipment and to assist students, speak clearly and distinctly to provide instruction and information to students and staff. Will require sitting, standing and walking for long periods of time. Will require the ability to move equipment of less than 50 lbs with the assistance of devices.
