Job summary

US Foods is seeking a QA/FSQA specialist for our plant in North Carolina. You will conduct incoming/outgoing material checks, monitor product temperatures, weight, labeling and packaging, and verify adherence to buying specs. You will also support inventory control and prepare QC reports.

Must have at least 1 year in a food production environment; HS diploma; HACCP preferred. Overtime may be required; base pay $15–$24 per hour, depending on experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a food production environment.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • HACCP certification preferred.
  • Experience performing QC checks on incoming/outgoing goods.

Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming raw material checks including trailer and box inspection.
  • Verify product temperatures, weight, packaging and order accuracy.
  • Conduct daily quality checks on steak cutting yield and sample QC before shipping.
  • Assist inventory control and prepare regular QC reports.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA/FSIS/OSHA and GMP/SSOP requirements.

BASIC PURPOSE

Improve product quality and consistency by conducting checks at receiving, processing and shipping. Facilitate the implementation of the GFSI standard by supporting the FSQA role and operation activities in the plant. Monitor implementation all Food safety, Regulatory and Quality programs within the assigned area of responsibility

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Perform incoming raw material check, including trailer inspection (cleanliness, temperature, overall conditions), box inspection (intact, undamaged), product appearance & temperature, adherence to product purchasing specifications and weight. Perform outgoing finished product inspection, including reviewing filled orders for accuracy, inspecting box condition prior to shipping, verify product temperature is within acceptable level, inspecting trailers for cleanliness, temperature, satisfactory condition and completion of box label, product content and weight checks. Perform work in progress QC tasks, including equipment calibration (thermometers, scales, antimicrobial application) and monitoring of metal detector operation, monitoring of aged inventory, order filler checks, CCP verification, daily monitoring of antimicrobial application. Assist with inventory control. Perform daily steak cutting quality checks, monitor cutting yield. Perform QC checks on product samples prior to shipment to ensure proper specifications, appearance, packaging and accurate order fulfillment. Conduct employees training when necessary. Complete and submit regular reports for statistical or operational analysis. Evaluate conditions of returned product for proper disposition

Performing all duties in compliance with USDA, DDA, OSHA, state and/or local regulations. Company policies and procedures include: safety guidelines and the use of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and must be adhered to.

RELATIONSHIPS

Internal: FSQA department, Warehouse & Processing employees. The incumbent is required to interact with employees, customers, and vendors at all levels of responsibility throughout the company in a professional manner

External: USDA/FDA officials

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to work continually in a refrigerated environment 35°F- 45°F. Must be able to work for periods of time in a freezer environment -10°F to +10°F with company provided apparel. May require overtime with or without notice. Finish time is when work is completed.

Minimum Qualifications

Must possess a minimum of 1year of experience in food production environment.

EDUCATION

High School Diploma/GED required

CERTIFICATIONS/TRAINING

HACCP Certified preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

USDA or FDA experience Preferred

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is between $15.00-$24.00/hour.
