Job summary

US Foods is seeking a Quality Control Associate to conduct checks at receiving, processing and shipping in a refrigerated plant, ensuring food safety, regulatory compliance and product quality across the facility.

You will perform incoming raw material and outgoing finished product inspections, daily QC tasks including equipment calibration and CCP verification, assist with inventory control, monitor steak cutting quality and prepare regular reports for analysis.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a food production environment.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• HACCP certification preferred.
• USDA or FDA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform incoming raw material check, including trailer inspection, box inspection, product appearance & temperature, and weight checks.
• Perform outgoing finished product inspection, review orders for accuracy, inspect box condition, verify temperature, and check trailer cleanliness and labels.

BASIC PURPOSE

Improve product quality and consistency by conducting checks at receiving, processing and shipping. Facilitate the implementation of the GFSI standard by supporting the FSQA role and operation activities in the plant. Monitor implementation all Food safety, Regulatory and Quality programs within the assigned area of responsibility

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform incoming raw material check, including trailer inspection (cleanliness, temperature, overall conditions), box inspection (intact, undamaged), product appearance & temperature, adherence to product purchasing specifications and weight
• Perform outgoing finished product inspection, including reviewing filled orders for accuracy, inspecting box condition prior to shipping, verify product temperature is within acceptable level, inspecting trailers for cleanliness, temperature, satisfactory condition and completion of box label, product content and weight checks.
• Perform work in progress QC tasks, including equipment calibration (thermometers, scales, antimicrobial application) and monitoring of metal detector operation, monitoring of aged inventory, order filler checks, CCP verification, daily monitoring of antimicrobial application.
• Assist with inventory control.
• Perform daily steak cutting quality checks, monitor cutting yield.
• Perform QC checks on product samples prior to shipment to ensure proper specifications, appearance, packaging and accurate order fulfillment.
• Conduct employees training when necessary.
• Complete and submit regular reports for statistical or operational analysis.
• Evaluate conditions of returned product for proper disposition
• Performing all duties in compliance with USDA, DDA, OSHA, state and/or local regulations.

RELATIONSHIPS

• Internal: FSQA department, Warehouse & Processing employees. The incumbent is required to interact with employees, customers, and vendors at all levels of responsibility throughout the company in a professional manner
• External: USDA/FDA officials

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Must be able to work continually in a refrigerated environment 35°F- 45°F.
• Must be able to work for periods of time in a freezer environment -10°F to +10°F with company provided apparel.
• May require overtime with or without notice.
• Finish time is when work is completed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must possess a minimum of 1year of experience in food production environment.

EDUCATION

• High School Diploma/GED required.

CERTIFICATIONS/TRAINING

• HACCP Certified preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• USDA or FDA experience Preferred.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law(for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between $15.00-$24.00/hour.
