Job summary

B&G Foods Inc. is seeking a FSQA Supervisor to oversee daily food safety and quality operations, guiding technicians and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

The role emphasizes continuous improvement, CAPA processes, and cross-functional collaboration with Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Supply Chain. The candidate will lead verification, environmental monitoring, and audits, with a strong focus on data analysis and timely reporting.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in a relevant field (preferred).
  • Minimum five years of Quality Management in the food industry.
  • Completed HACCP and PCQI training.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise FSQA technicians including scheduling, performance management, coaching, training, and discipline.
  • Ensure seamless communication between shifts and promote a culture of food safety and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor GMPs, HACCP/PCQI, sanitation, allergen control, foreign material prevention, and environmental monitoring programs.
  • Verify CCP/PC records, inspections, and production quality checks; conduct internal audits (GMP, HACCP, EMP, sanitation, traceability).
  • Lead investigations for deviations, non-conformances, and customer complaints; assist with product recalls and traceability.
  • Support regulatory inspections (FDA/state agencies) and assist with third-party audits (SQF, Kosher, customer).
  • Prepare routine and special reports documenting testing activities and HACCP verification.

Major Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
  • Supervise FSQA technicians including scheduling, performance management, coaching, training, and discipline.
  • Ensure seamless communication and handoffs between shifts.
  • Promote a culture of food safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Food Safety & Quality Program Oversight
  • Monitor plant operations for compliance with GMPs, HACCP/Preventive Controls, sanitation standards, allergen control, foreign material prevention, and environmental monitoring programs.
  • Verify CCP/PC records, sanitation pre‑operational inspections, and production quality checks.
  • Conduct internal audits (GMP, HACCP, EMP, sanitation, traceability).
  • Lead investigations for deviations, non‑conformances, customer complaints, and out‑of‑spec results.
Regulatory & Audit Support
  • Support regulatory inspections (FDA, state agencies) by preparing documentation and participating in facility walkthroughs.
  • Assist with third‑party certification audits (SQF, Kosher, customer audits).
  • Maintain accurate FSQA documentation and records.
Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Prepare routine and special reports documenting testing activities, swab results, finished product testing, and HACCP verification.
Recall, Traceability & Compliance
  • Assist with the administration of the product recall program, including mock recalls and returned product disposition.
  • Verify lot coding, traceability documentation, and raw material/finished product tracking, Hold Log.
  • Ensure compliance with FSMA Preventive Controls, including verification of monitoring, corrective actions, and recordkeeping.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve food safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead or participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes.
  • Collaborate with Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to resolve issues.
Safety & Work Environment
  • Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring employees follow safety procedures and receive required training.
  • Report unsafe acts or conditions immediately and apply corrective action consistently.
  • Spend approximately 75% of time on the production floor.
Other Duties

Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical Knowledge/Skills/ Experience/Education
  • BS Food Technology, Food Science, Biology or Engineering (preferred)
  • Five years of Quality Management in the food industry.
  • Completed HACCP and PCQI training.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and effective problem-solving.
  • Capable of accurate measurement using lab instruments.
  • Time management and self-motivation for continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Use SPC and statistical tools to analyze trends in micro, quality, and process data.
  • Present findings and corrective action recommendations to FSQA Manager and cross‑functional teams.
Compensation

Base Pay Range:
$61,500.00 - $102,500.00

Final base pay will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to; role responsibilities, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and/or internal pay equity. Please keep in mind that we consider internal pay equity and hiring at the maximum of the salary range uncommon. Total pay may include other forms of compensation including short-term incentive bonus.
