Job summary

The People Co. is seeking an experienced FSQA Manager for our Brentwood, NY area manufacturing client. You will lead daily FSQA operations, ensuring compliance with USDA-FSIS, FDA, HACCP, SQF, GMP, SSOP and allergen requirements.

You will oversee quality systems, audits, regulatory inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives while mentoring a capable FSQA team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, microbiology or related field.
  • 5+ years FSQA management experience in meat/food manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of USDA/ FDA standards and SQF/ HACCP.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily FSQA operations in USDA- and FDA-regulated facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with FSIS, FDA, HACCP, SQF, GMP, SSOP and allergen rules.
  • Lead and maintain HACCP, Food Safety, Food Defense, Food Fraud, EMP and traceability systems.
  • Oversee SQF/GFSI programs, CCPs, preventive controls and sanitation.
  • Lead investigations involving food safety, non-conformances and CAPA closures.
  • Support audits and inspections by internal, customer and regulators.
  • Collaborate with Operations on new product launches and supplier quality.
  • Develop FSQA team through training and KPI monitoring.

Job description

Our client, a manufacturing company located in the Brentwood, NY area is looking for a FSQA Manager to join their team.

What you will do in this role:
  • Manage daily FSQA operations within USDA- and FDA-regulated food manufacturing facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA-FSIS, FDA, HACCP, SQF, GMP, SSOP, allergen, sanitation, and customer requirements.
  • Lead and maintain HACCP, Food Safety, Food Defense, Food Fraud, EMP, allergen, traceability, recall, and quality systems.
  • Oversee SQF/GFSI programs, CCPs, preventive controls, sanitation, environmental monitoring, and Listeria investigations, including root cause and CAPA.
  • Lead investigations involving food safety, quality, complaints, foreign material, non-conformances, deviations, holds/releases, and ensure corrective actions are effectively implemented.
  • Manage and support internal, customer, USDA, third-party audits, and regulatory inspections, while maintaining FSQA procedures, documentation, training, and certifications.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, suppliers, and customers on new product launches, specifications, supplier quality, sanitary design, process improvements, traceability, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, train, mentor, and develop FSQA teams while monitoring quality KPIs, maintaining ERP/specification systems, and driving accountability and continuous improvement.
What you will bring to the role:
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of FSQA management/supervisory experience in food manufacturing; USDA experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of USDA-FSIS, FDA, HACCP, SQF, GMPs, sanitation, allergen management, environmental monitoring, and food safety systems.
  • Experience with RTE food manufacturing, environmental monitoring programs, investigations, process controls, and sanitation preferred.
  • HACCP, PCQI, and SQF Practitioner certifications/experience preferred.
  • Proven experience leading internal, customer, USDA, and third-party certification audits.
  • Strong technical and computer skills, including ERP, Microsoft Office, specification systems, quality management systems, and customer portals; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a team-first, low-ego mindset and strong sense of urgency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
