Job summary

Kowalski Companies is seeking a detail-oriented FSQA Compliance & Documentation Specialist to support and maintain food safety and quality programs across all facilities. This onsite, full-time role focuses on regulatory compliance, documentation systems, audits, and fostering a culture of food safety throughout the organization.

The successful candidate will manage the Food Safety Library, support audits, and collaborate with consultants to ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in food science or related field (or 4+ years’ experience without a degree).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manages Food Safety Library, SSOPs, FSPs, and other regulatory documentation for all locations.
• Maintains internal auditing program to keep the plant audit-ready at all times.
• Supports FSQA Director during 3rd party certification and regulatory audits.
• Ensures timely corrections to inspection observations and monitors effectiveness.
• Collaborates with company consultants on quality initiatives and training.
• Manages Supplier Approval Program using Trustwell platform.
• Participates in creating quality and regulatory training for plant personnel.
• Contributes to annual FSP re-analysis for all facilities.
• Calibrates and verifies analytical instruments for monitoring activities.
• Performs analytical measurements in support of FSP/HACCP.
• Conducts direct observation or coordinates with others for direct observation.
• Monitors GMPs and conducts daily pre-operational and operational audits.
• Performs environmental monitoring program swabbing and sampling.

This role ensures regulatory compliance, manages documentation systems, supports audits, and helps drive a culture of food safety throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Manages Food Safety Library, SSOP’s, FSPs, and other regulatory related documentation for all company locations.
• Manages the plant’s internal auditing program and ensures plant is always audit ready.
• Works with FSQA Director during 3rd Party certification and regulatory audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field with 1-4 years’ experience OR 4+ years’ experience without a degree
• Computer literacy to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP systems
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of quality regulations regarding HACCP, GMP, SOP, SSOP, SPS
• Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment, thermometers, weight scales, fat analyzer, and water activity meter
• HACCP, PCQI, or other relevant industry certifications

Schedule

• 8–10-hour shifts
• Day shift, Monday to Friday with occasional weekend availability as needed
