Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate and verify laboratory equipment; monitor product specs.
  • Lead internal and external audits and support certification efforts.
  • Collaborate with production to address quality and efficiency issues.
  • Report to Corporate FSQA leadership on complex quality challenges.

Job description

On behalf of our client, a leading food manufacturer, we are seeking a hands-on FSQA Site Manager to take ownership of all Food Safety and Quality system programs at their Bear Creek facility. This is a working management role responsible for maintaining rigorous food safety regulations, ensuring high product quality standards, and directly supervising both the site FSQA and Sanitation teams.

The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in driving continuous improvement, resolving customer concerns, managing lab equipment, and fostering cross-functional collaboration across production and operational departments.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain food safety programs, ensuring complete compliance with HACCP, GMP, SOP, and employee training documentation.
  • Provide direct leadership, support, and guidance to site FSQA and Sanitation team members.
  • Conduct thorough and timely investigations into customer complaints to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Inspect, test, and measure physical and chemical properties of products against specifications. Perform regular calibration and verification of laboratory equipment.
  • Support and adhere to quality management systems, employee safety, preventive maintenance programs, and regulatory legality.
  • Perform internal and external plant audits to identify non-conformances and set up quality assurance systems for proper certification.
  • Work alongside production and plant supervisors to coordinate activities, resolve efficiency issues, and prevent quality deviations.
  • Consult with Corporate FSQA leadership to resolve complex quality, production, and operational challenges.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 2 to 5 years of proven Quality Management experience within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Proficient in HACCP, GMPs, SOPs, and sanitation protocols. Strong command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and practical math skills (algebra, statistics).
  • Exceptional written and oral communication, high attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work efficiently under minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Working Environment & Physical Demands
  • Ability to perform duties effectively in a dynamic, highly disruptive plant setting under time pressure.
  • Working conditions may include hot/humid environments (exceeding 80°F).
  • Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) includes hearing protection, hairnets/beard nets, and task-specific eye protection.
