POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process and maintaining compliance with the Florida Nurse Practice Act. The provision of this care is to be conducted in a collaborative manner with all members of the healthcare team in order to deliver quality care and the best possible patient outcome.

Essential Core Functions Of The Registered Professional Nurse
  • Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patients' health or situation
  • Analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnosis or issues
  • Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient and the situation
  • Develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes
  • Implements the identified plan
  • Evaluates progress toward the attainment of the proposed outcome
  • Systematically enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice
  • Attains knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice
  • Exercises independent judgment in relation to patient care based on level of experience and knowledge, while working within an interdisciplinary team
  • Evaluates own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines relevant to statutes, rules, and regulations
  • Interacts with peers and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues
  • Collaborates with the patient, family, and others in a professional ethical manner
  • Integrates research findings into practice
  • Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in planning and delivering nursing care

  • Follows established patient safety guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in harm

Qualifications:
  • 3+ years recent (within last year) Acute Care ER RN experience.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma from an accredited institution required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Current FL RN license or appropriate compact licensure; active FL RN compact license within 90 days if held in another state; advanced Nurse Practitioner license acceptable.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association BLS certification required within 30 days.
