Job Title: Frozen Foods Clerk

Department: Frozen Foods

FLSA: Non-Exempt

General Function

Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service. Rotates and replenishes merchandise. Ensures cleanliness and safety in the department, and checks temperatures of cases for correctness and consistency.

Reporting Relations

Reports to: District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, and Health Wellness Home, Frozen Department Manager, Service Managers

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions and treating customers as the most important people in the store.
• Greets customers warmly, whether in the department or elsewhere in the store.
• Attempts to learn and use customers’ names when possible.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading/unloading heavy items, passing along suggestions, and enhancing the shopping experience.
• Answers the telephone promptly, providing helpful service and taking orders when needed.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
• Rotates and replenishes merchandise, ensuring quality standards.
• Maintains cleanliness in the department and ensures merchandise is displayed neatly with visible labels.
• Builds and maintains end cap displays.
• Unloads trucks, checks in and stores products, and reviews invoices as needed.
• Ensures storage areas are organized, floors are safe, and temperatures are correct.
• Adheres to personal hygiene, dress code, and company policies.
• Reports to work as scheduled and on time.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

• Orders products and supplies as needed.
• Assists with inventory management.
• Prices products for customers as needed.
• Supports other store areas as required.
• Performs additional duties and projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
• Ability to perform arithmetic involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
• Ability to file, post, mail, copy data, interview, guide, and provide basic directions.

Education and Experience

No formal education required; six months or less of related work experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
• Visual acuity from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet, with or without correction, including depth and color perception.
• Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

Exposed to noise, temperature extremes, dampness, and equipment hazards in a fast-paced environment with pressure.

Equipment Used

Pallet jacks, register systems, two-wheelers, box cutters, box crushers, and C.A.R.S. reordering system.

Starting hourly wage: $11.13 to $14.00, depending on experience.
