Job summary

Flexport is seeking an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer to join our on-site team in San Francisco, driving AI-enabled logistics solutions for enterprise clients. You will map complex end-to-end supply chains, architect production systems, and deploy autonomous workflows that cut costs and improve performance.

Qualifications include 4+ years in full-stack software engineering (Python, TypeScript/React, SQL) and hands-on AI/optimization experience.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics or related field.
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building customer-facing or mission-critical applications (Python, TypeScript/React, SQL, REST/GraphQL APIs, relational databases, event-driven architectures).
• Demonstrated ability to build and integrate AI/ML solutions (LLM orchestration, agentic workflows, ML models or optimization solvers).
• Strong skills in designing data models, pipeline transformations, API integrations, and complex enterprise architecture.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites and work on-site with frontline teams.

Responsibilities

• Embed & Map: Travel to client sites to map end-to-end supply chain processes and translate constraints into architecture.
• Design and build production solutions spanning customer apps, internal tools, APIs, data pipelines, and workflows linking to SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, WMS, and TMS.
• Build & Deploy AI solutions: Design and ship production-grade AI apps, agentic LLM workflows, and decision engines.
• Solve complex optimization: Apply routing, mode selection, inventory positioning, and other logistics optimization techniques.
• Own the 90-Day Sprint Lifecycle: Drive fast deployment from discovery to live production and ROI measurement.
• Productize the Field: Turn client builds into reusable platform capabilities with Product and Platform Engineering.
• Bridge Engineering & Operations: Validate code in live workflows with frontline teams and ensure adoption.
• Drive Executive Decisions: Communicate trade-offs and architecture to client leadership.
