Job summary

Flexport in San Francisco is seeking a senior Forward Deployed Consultant to embed on client sites and architect real-time supply chain solutions.

You will design optimization models using Python and SQL, deploy automated workflows, and partner with executives to show ROI. This role requires 6+ years in supply chain or related fields, and willingness to travel up to 50% to client sites.

Qualifications

• Educational Background: BA/BS or higher in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Applied Physics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Supply Chain & Logistics Expertise: 6+ years in senior roles in supply chain management, consulting, product management, logistics engineering, or freight forwarding.
• Technical & Analytical: Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data visualization tools (Looker, Tableau).
• Mathematical Modeling & Systems Thinking: Ability to build decision-support systems modeling end-to-end dependencies.
• Technical Program Management: Experience overseeing cross-functional project workstreams from definition to delivery.
• Executive Communication & Influence: Ability to present ROI and complex workflows to executives.
• Frontline Grit: Willingness to work on-site at ports, warehouses, and client hubs.
• Mindset: Self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, detail-oriented and action-driven.

Responsibilities

• Embed & Audit: Map processes on-site, audit data, identify bottlenecks, and quantify ROI across freight, tariffs, and inventory.
• Architect Optimization Models: Design and scale supply chain models using Python, SQL, and proprietary tools.
• Lead Solution Design & Product Integration: Lead across capabilities and translate models into production workflows.
• Drive Executive Strategy & Proposals: Co-create client proposals and present ROI to executives.
• Bridge Strategy & Frontline Execution: Work with frontline teams to validate models in live workflows.
• Own End-to-End Program Workstreams: Manage 90-day deployment sprints with roadmaps and data pipelines.
• Measure Financial & Environmental Impact: Track hard-dollar cost reductions.
• Productize Field Insights: Turn insights into reusable playbooks and platform features.
