Job summary

City of Odessa is seeking a Street Maintenance Worker to perform a variety of basic labor tasks under supervision, maintaining streets, roadways and city infrastructure for the Public Works Department.

The role involves operating vehicles and equipment safely, following procedures, and assisting with maintenance and repairs. Strong safety awareness and ability to follow instructions are essential; Texas Driver's license required, CDL preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; some related work experience desired.
• Knowledge of basic traffic control and safety procedures.
• Skill in safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Ability to follow standard operating and safety procedures.
• Ability to establish cooperative working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining and repairing streets, roadways, and infrastructure.
• Performs unskilled and semi-skilled labor tasks; clears foliage and debris and cleans drains and vacant properties; cross-trains in PWD skills.
• Maintains and operates PWD vehicles and equipment according to Department standards.
• Uses proper safety precautions; reports problems and emergencies; avoids unsafe acts and injuries.
• Supports division operations with regular and timely attendance.
• Interacts courteously with the public and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues.
