Job summary

Deschutes County's Solid Waste Department in Bend, Oregon is hiring a Landfill Site Attendant to help operate Knott Landfill and nearby transfer stations. You will greet the public, collect fees, issue receipts, and monitor safety while directing customer movement in a busy environment.

This four‑day, ten‑hour schedule requires flexibility, weekend/holiday availability, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. The position offers a robust benefits package and is union represented.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1 year of customer service experience, including data entry and payment processing.
• Equivalent combination of training, education, and experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to direct and assist the public at disposal sites; explain procedures and fees.
• Collect fees, issue receipts, and enter/verify data in the computer system.
• Provide customer traffic control to ensure safe operations.
• Maintain a clean, organized worksite and pick up litter as needed.
