Job summary

Hartford HealthCare is seeking a Public Safety Officer to serve as the frontline guardian for our community, providing customer service and maintaining safe, secure environments for patients, visitors, colleagues, clinicians and physicians.

You will patrol facilities, respond to incidents, document activities, and collaborate with law enforcement and first responders as needed. A strong commitment to safety and service is required, with English proficiency and CT driver’s license.

Qualifications

• One year of relevant experience (public safety, corrections, emergency medical services, military) required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Valid CT Guard Card required.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English required.
• Two years of relevant experience preferred.
• Basic First Aid and CPR preferred.
• CPI preferred.
• MOAB preferred.
• Multilingual preferred.
• Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment with little direction.
• Focus on providing an exceptional experience to patients, visitors, and staff.
• Ability to analyze and solve difficult situations and emergencies.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Basic to intermediate computer and technology skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional, customer service focused assistance to the HHC Community including patients, visitors, families, colleagues, clinicians, physicians, and first responder community.
• Patrols and rounds facility to identify concerning activity, safety concerns or other problems; may be assigned to fixed areas to check credentials, provide information or directions.
• When assigned to mobile patrols, operates vehicles in a safe manner complying with traffic and safety rules.
• Provides a timely response, uses problem solving to manage and investigate security incidents and hazards.
• Maintains current knowledge of instructions, policies and procedures and works accordingly.
• Shares information with other Public Safety Officers, maintains logs and completes reports.
• Partners with law enforcement and other first responders when warranted.
• Informs supervisor of unusual situations and requests additional assistance as needed.
• Completes other duties as assigned.
