Job summary

The City of Galveston is seeking a Firefighter/Engineer to respond to emergency calls for fire, rescue and EMS, and to participate in fire code enforcement and public education. Responsibilities include operating fire apparatus, performing equipment checks, maintaining stations, and supporting educational programs.

A high school diploma, fire academy graduation, EMT certification and a Texas Class B license are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; graduation from an accredited fire academy.
• TCFP Intermediate Fire certification and EMT certification required.
• Class B Texas Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency and non-emergency incidents; provides fire suppression, rescue and EMS.
• Operates fire apparatus to respond to calls.
• Performs vehicle and equipment checks and prepares activity reports.
• Maintains fire stations and equipment; conducts tours and public education events.
