The City of Galveston seeks a Firefighter/Engineer to respond to emergency calls for fire, rescue and EMS, and to participate in fire code enforcement, public education and station maintenance.
Under general supervision, you will operate fire apparatus, prepare activity reports, conduct equipment checks, and support public safety through training and community programs.

Under general supervision, responds to emergency calls for service, including fire, rescue and emergency medical services; participates in fire code enforcement, public education and fire station and equipment maintenance activities.

High School diploma or equivalent; AND graduation from an accredited fire academy; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work is performed both in an indoor and outdoor work environment. May have exposure to dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, potential physical harm, hazardous chemicals and infectious diseases. May be required to climb ladders. May be required to work in confined spaces. May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 150 pounds.
