The City of Galveston is seeking a Firefighter/Engineer to respond to emergency calls for fire, rescue and EMS, and to participate in fire code enforcement and public education. Responsibilities include operating fire apparatus, performing equipment checks, maintaining stations, and supporting educational programs.
A high school diploma, fire academy graduation, EMT certification and a Texas Class B license are required.
SUMMARY: Under general supervision, responds to emergency calls for service, including fire, rescue and emergency medical services; participates in fire code enforcement, public education and fire station and equipment maintenance activities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed both in an indoor and outdoor work environment. May have exposure to dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, potential physical harm, hazardous chemicals and infectious diseases. May be required to climb ladders. May be required to work in confined spaces. May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 150 pounds.
