Job summary

Koniag Technology Solutions, Inc, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an L1 Operations Engineer to support a critical enterprise server environment for a government client. This role requires a Secret clearance and is onsite in Beltsville, MD, with potential projects in DC or CO as needed.

The ideal candidate will monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues while coordinating with Systems Administrators, documenting changes, and maintaining 24/7 shift coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 3–5+ years in IT or enterprise server monitoring/operations.
• Experience troubleshooting IT hardware, including physical and virtual server components.
• Experience using ITSM tools such as BMC Remedy or ServiceNow for incident, problem, and change management.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Server Operating Systems and VMware vSphere administration and troubleshooting.
• Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the enterprise server environment continuously, identifying anomalies and potential service disruptions.
• Communicate proactively with stakeholders regarding system status, incidents, and resolutions.
• Troubleshoot server problems with Systems Administrators and document changes in change management records.
• Perform reboots on physical servers and VMware vSphere for virtual servers as needed.
• Test, ping, and open problem tickets for servers and websites that are unresponsive or degraded.
• Escalate unresolved issues to Level 2 LAN Administrators with thorough documentation.
• Maintain logs, incident tickets, and shift turnover for 24/7 operations.
