Job summary

Ninilchik Traditional Council (NTC) is seeking a Community Health Aide/Medical Assistant to provide primary care services in the NTCCC clinic in Ninilchik, Alaska. The CHA/MA performs clinical, immunization, phlebotomy, radiology-related duties after specific training, and supports emergency response.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Certified CHA/CHP/MA; training opportunities available.
• BLS certification required; ACLS within 6 months of hire.
• CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Criminal background check required; strong computer, writing and record-keeping skills.
• Willing to travel for training as needed or budget allows.
• Understand health clinic operations; sensitivity to Alaska Native/Indian cultures.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary care services during clinic hours.
• Maintain confidential records and files.
• Immunizations and/or injections as directed by RN/NP/DO/MD.
• Provide disease control treatments, referrals and follow-up.
• Provide chronic disease care and follow-up.
• Monitor chronically ill patients and perform home visits as needed.
• Enter patients into Homer EMS 911 system for emergencies.
• Coordinate and monitor appointments with clinic front desk.
• Prepare and maintain examination and treatment areas.
• Assist with examinations, procedures and treatments.
