Job summary

State of Oregon’s Department of Human Services seeks a Child Protective Services Worker (Social Service Specialist 1) for the North Bend office. You will conduct child safety assessments, respond to referrals, and develop service plans to protect children and support families.

This permanent, full-time role requires a valid driver’s license, a relevant degree, and the ability to work on-site; travel and overtime may be required. The position offers a competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field.
• One year of Human Services related experience or coursework equivalent.
• Degree must be completed (not in progress) and may require Oregon Caseworker Competency.

Responsibilities

• Respond to referrals of alleged abuse or neglect and assess child safety.
• Conduct safety assessments and determine if abuse occurred; implement protective actions.
• Develop service plans and connect families with community resources and evaluations.
• Arrange placements and participate in multidisciplinary meetings and court hearings.
• Maintain thorough documentation including court reports and case notes.
