Qualifications

• GS-9 level eligibility can be achieved through experience, education, or a combination.
• Minimum one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, including detention of violators, enforcing import/export laws, use of intelligence techniques and risk assessments, and interviewing suspects.
• Education substitution allows a master’s degree or higher, two or more years of graduate education, an LL.B., or J.D.
• Combination of experience and education confirmed from resume and transcripts.
• Other requirements include U.S. citizenship, residency, age, and veterans’ preference.

Responsibilities

• Enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.
• Facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel.
