Job summary

Apkudo's Device OS team seeks a Front End Engineer to own the front-end architecture for the Device Passport platforms, turning device workflows and telemetry into intuitive UI. Build with React and TypeScript, collaborating with backend engineers to ensure fast, reliable interfaces for field operators and partners.

You will mentor engineers, contribute to design systems, and ensure accessibility and performance under real operating conditions with real-time data streams.

Qualifications

• Strong, hands-on experience building production front-end applications with React (5+ years) as a primary focus.
• Deep, production-grade TypeScript experience.
• A genuine care for performance and customer experience.
• Proven ability to architect front-end applications and data-fetching patterns.
• Strong command of modern web fundamentals - semantic HTML, CSS, browser rendering.
• Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and real-time data streams.
• Hands-on experience building with and maintaining design systems or shared component libraries.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development tools and good judgment about their use.
• Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG).
• Experience with front-end testing (Jest, RTL, Playwright, Cypress).
• BS in Computer Science or related field; practical experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain React and TypeScript applications where customers see how their appliances are performing and configure them.
• Care deeply about performance - shape the data flow with backend engineers for fast, responsive pages.
• Collaborate with design to craft the best customer experience and contribute to UX decisions.
• Own the front-end architecture - components, state, data fetching, and maintainable codebase.
• Build responsive, accessible interfaces for large data sets and real-time updates.
• Integrate with RESTful APIs and real-time streams; handle loading and errors gracefully.
• Develop and extend shared component libraries and design systems.
• Collaborate with backend, hardware, and field operations to deliver field-ready features.
• Contribute to technical design docs and code reviews.
• Help grow Tailwind-based design system and shared packages across apps.
