Job summary

Edison Scientific is hiring a Frontend Engineer to build the integrated research environment and create UX that helps scientists integrate AI into discovery processes. The role is on-site in San Francisco, part of the App team, and involves working with a cross-disciplinary group to deliver scalable UI patterns and high-performance visualizations.

You will translate AI-driven workflows into clear, intuitive interfaces, develop a modular design system, and collaborate with product and research

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional front-end engineering experience shipping data-heavy web apps.
• Deep experience in JavaScript, React, and TypeScript.
• Strong knowledge of browser rendering, performance profiling, and optimization.
• Experience with real-time data handling (WebSockets, GraphQL subscriptions) and interactive visualizations (D3.js, Deck.gl, Three.js).
• Ability to translate scientific requirements into elegant visualizations & interfaces.
• Experience building design systems and reusable component libraries.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and responsive design.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, implement, and optimize the front-end for our scientific discovery platform.
• Translate complex AI-driven workflows into intuitive user experiences.
• Collaborate with product and research teams to anticipate user needs.
• Develop and maintain a modular design system.
• Profile and optimize rendering performance across browsers and devices.
• Integrate real-time data visualizations to empower scientists on our platform.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to front-end architecture decisions.
