Job summary

Mercury's Design Systems team is hiring a Frontend Engineer to evolve shared components and patterns behind Mercury's interfaces, collaborating with designers and engineers to turn product needs into robust frontend solutions.

You'll work with React and TypeScript, focus on accessibility and design tokens, explore AI-assisted approaches, and grow within a supportive environment that values hands-on ownership and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Foundation in React, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS, with the ability to explain decisions behind your code.
• Care for visual craft and accessible interfaces in product experiences.
• Hands-on fluency with AI coding tools to review, improve and contextualize generated code.
• Ownership and willingness to learn; communicate needs and use feedback to improve.
• Curiosity about reusable systems and trade-offs in serving different product needs with shared components.
• Experience with design systems, prototyping, or developer tooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build shared components and patterns in React and TypeScript for Mercury's interfaces.
• Partner with designers and product engineers to connect design intent with working software; evolve components and tokens in Figma and code.
• Improve the quality of experiences by focusing on accessibility and reliable behavior; test and iterate.
• Make the design system easier to use by refining documentation and examples for teams.
• Explore AI-assisted approaches and validate ideas in real product contexts with team guidance.
