Job summary

Southwest Behavioral & Health Services seeks a Front Office Representative in Payson, AZ. The role handles patient check-in/out, scheduling, insurance verification, and coordinating appointments.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with preferred Medical Assistant training and certification, and 1–2 years in medical/behavioral health settings, plus clerical experience. Fingerprint clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program highly preferred.
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a medical or behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Prior clerical experience in a behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Fingerprint clearance by AZ DPS or eligibility to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains client databases and schedules appointments.
  • Coordinates transportation as needed.
  • Processes medication issues and prior authorizations.
  • Processes and monitors lab results.
  • Schedules medication, counseling and intake appointments.
  • Completes intake referrals and screenings.
  • Answers incoming calls by the third ring.
  • Verifies/updates consumer contact information.
  • Verifies eligibility/enrollment prior to appointment (AHCCCS, RBHA, Part D).
  • Collects client fees/copays.

Job Preview at a Glance:

A Front Office Representative is responsible for performing front office duties including patient care activities, front office check-in and check-out, scheduling, verifying medical insurance, and scheduling and confirming appointments.

Location & Schedule:

Work schedule-Monday through Friday. Reporting to our Payson clinic.

Pay: $15.51/hr. -$16/hr.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establishes, updates and maintains all client databases and scheduling of consumer appointments.
  • Coordinates transportation as clinically necessary/appropriate.
  • Processes medication issues and prior authorizations.
  • Processes and monitors lab results.
  • Schedules medication, counseling, and intake appointment.
  • Completes intake referrals and screening.
  • Answers all incoming phone calls by third ring.
  • Confirms/updates consumer contact information.
  • Verifies consumer eligibility/enrollment prior to appointment: AHCCCS, RBHA/agency, Limited Income Subsidy, Medicare Part D.
  • Collects client fees/copay.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D required
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program highly preferred.
  • Medical Assistant Certification preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in a medical or behavioral health background preferred
  • Requires prior clerical experience, preferably in a behavioral health setting (Consideration given for course work in lieu of part of the experience requirements)
  • Must have fingerprint clearance issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety or be eligible to receive upon job offer.
