Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited program.
• Current BLS certification preferred; required within 90 days.
• At least 1 year of experience preferred.
• Ability to enter patient data into EMR and use Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and basic insurance processes.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficient in English grammar and professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors in a professional manner.
• Obtain insurance cards, licenses, authorizations, referrals and save in EMR.
• Perform demographic and insurance validation.
• Communicate schedule delays and assist with patient comfort.
• Collect co-pays and reconcile charges; submit batches daily.
• Keep reception and waiting areas clean and organized.
• Schedule appointments and follow-ups.
• Prepare and administer medications as directed; perform basic labs, EKGs, suture removal.
• Take medical histories and provide medication/diet instructions; authorize refills.
• Answer phones and greet patients.
• Prepare and maintain exam rooms and supplies.
• Perform other duties as required.
