Job summary

The Ridley, Charlottesville’s destination for modern Southern American cuisine, seeks a Host to warmly welcome guests and coordinate seating at The Ridley, a Thompson Hospitality venue. You will guide guests, share information about the menu and promotions, and help ensure a smooth dining flow.

As part of Thompson Hospitality, you’ll contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, handle reservations and inquiries, and maintain the host station in a fast-paced environment near the University of Virginia.

Qualifications

• Clear verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact with guests in a busy environment.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours).
• Lift and carry up to 20 lbs (menus, high chairs, booster seats).
• Reach, bend, and stoop occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests with a friendly and professional demeanor.
• Manage reservations and coordinate seating for efficient turnover.
• Provide accurate wait times and update guests on table status.
• Answer guest inquiries and share information about the restaurant, menu, and promotions.
• Maintain a clean, organized host station and assist with front-of-house duties.
