Job summary

Atlas Disposal Industries in Sacramento, CA, is hiring a Front Load Driver on a full-time basis. The role requires a Class A or B CDL with airbrake endorsement and a commitment to safety and dependable service.

Responsibilities

• Operate front-load trucks to collect waste, recycling, and compost on routes.
• Navigate through traffic, driveways, and areas with limited clearance.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and complete DVIRs.
• Log route progress and notes on a computerized tablet.
• Report safety issues or incidents to supervision promptly.
• Attend required trainings and meetings.
• Coordinate with Dispatch to improve route efficiency.
• Assist other drivers to meet service deadlines.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and proper equipment usage.

As a Front Load Driver, you will be essential in delivering safe and efficient waste, recycling, and compost collection services. Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty front load trucks to collect waste, recycling, and compost containers along assigned routes.
• Safely navigate through high-traffic areas, congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and locations with limited overhead clearance.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and accurately complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR).
• Follow assigned routes, service containers, ensure proper placement, and maintain cleanliness at service locations.
• Utilize a computerized mobile tablet to track route progress, complete stops, and enter relevant notes and information.
• Promptly report unsafe situations, service issues, incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage to Supervisor or Dispatch.
• Participate in required training programs, briefings, and meetings.
• Collaborate with Dispatch and Supervisors to improve route efficiency and implement best practices.
• Assist other drivers as needed to meet customer needs and ensure timely service completion.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with airbrake endorsement.
• At least 1 year of recent experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL or equivalent military driving experience.
• Experience operating vehicles in congested parking lots and roadways.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to pass regular drug screenings, pre-employment physical, and background checks.

Compensation

$26.00 – $30.00 per hour. Thisis a full-time, hourly position with typical shifts of 10–11 hours per day, Monday through Friday starting at 3 a.m. Drivers are expected to work a Saturday approximately every three weeks.
