Job summary

Kiewit Mining Group seeks a Front Line Supervisor - Field Operations to directly oversee field crews and supervise safety, quality, schedule and performance. You will guide day-to-day operations, develop crews, and coordinate with engineers, maintenance and safety teams across multiple sites.

The role requires strong mining/inspection experience, MSHA familiarity, and willingness to relocate to job sites with shifts including nights and weekends. Competitive benefits provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years relevant experience as Front Line Supervisor in coal or metal/non-metal mines or heavy civil construction.
• Familiar with MSHA operations.
• Self-starter with initiative and strong work ethic.
• Commitment to safety and integrity.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Team player able to work independently to meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational, time management and attention to detail.
• Experience with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Willingness to relocate to job sites and work nights/weekends; travel on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise a crew of up to 30 equipment operators.
• Assist in hiring, training and development of craft personnel.
• Establish daily assignments, approve time off, and conduct performance reviews.
• Maintain open communication with crews, field engineers, Maintenance, Safety and Quality.
• Assist in preparing work plans and determining manpower, materials and equipment needs.
• Examine field conditions, troubleshoot issues and implement cost-saving measures.
• Monitor budgets and ensure adherence to cost controls.
• Provide job safety training and raise safety awareness for all personnel.
• Ensure quality standards and compliance with specifications.
• Assist with developing schedules and coordinate with contractors and suppliers; schedule inspections.
• Advise peers/project management of potential problems and assist in resolution.
