Job summary

Kiewit Mining District is seeking a Front Line Supervisor – Field Operations to directly supervise day-to-day field activities and crews up to 30 personnel. You will set safety, quality, and schedule expectations while coordinating with field engineers, maintenance, and safety teams.

A strong background in surface mining or heavy civil construction is required, with MSHA familiarity and excellent communication to develop the crew and drive performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience as a Front Line Supervisor in coal or metal/non-metal mines or heavy civil construction.
• Familiar with MSHA operations.
• Self-starter and highly motivated, with a passion for excellence and initiative.
• Strong work ethic and safety focus; able to ensure work is done right the first time.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of an assigned crew of equipment operators.
• Assist in hiring, training, and development of craft personnel.
• Establish daily job assignments and schedules.
• Maintain open communication with crews, engineers, Maintenance, Safety, and Quality.
• Assist in preparing work plans and determine manpower, materials, and equipment.
• Inspect field conditions, troubleshoot, and implement cost-saving measures.
• Monitor budget compliance and cost control.
• Oversee job safety training and awareness.
• Coordinate schedules with contractors and deliveries; ensure inspections.
• Escalate and resolve problems with peers or management.
