Job summary

BLN24 is seeking a Front End Web Developer to support CFPB’s RegTech BPA program from our McLean, VA office. You will design and build intuitive, accessible, public-facing web apps using React and modern front-end tech, collaborating with user research and back-end teams.

This role involves delivering containerized applications with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines in an open-source environment, and ensuring 508-compliant interfaces with data visualizations as needed.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional front-end development experience.
• Experience with HTML5, CSS3, SASS, responsive design, and Bootstrap.
• Proven track record delivering public-facing, open-source solutions.
• Strong React experience and ability to translate requirements into UI features.
• Experience collaborating with backend teams to design JSON APIs.
• Experience with automated testing and CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Travis, Ansible).
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

BLN24 is seeking a Front End Web Developer to support CFPB’s RegTech BPA program by designing and building intuitive, accessible, public-facing web applications. This role requires strong expertise in React and modern front-end development, close collaboration with user research and back-end teams, and experience delivering containerized applications through automated testing and continuous delivery pipelines in an open-source environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain public-facing web applications using React and modern front-end techniques
• Build responsive user interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, SASS, and Bootstrap, composing UIs from packages managed with npm and Yarn
• Translate organizational needs into web application solutions through custom code
• Participate in design sprints with user research teams to understand and address user needs
• Collaborate with back-end developers to design the JSON APIs consumed by the user interface
• Develop automated tests and support continuous delivery pipelines for containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes
• Build accessible, Section 508-compliant interfaces, including data visualizations and web maps where needed
• Manage source code, reviews, and releases in GitHub as part of an Agile, open-source delivery team

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional front-end development experience
• Expertise in front-end web development using modern techniques and frameworks (e.g., HTML5, CSS3, SASS, Responsive Design, and Bootstrap)
• Demonstrated experience working on open-source projects, including delivering public-facing solutions
• Knowledge and experience building applications using the React library
• Experience translating organizational needs into web application solutions through custom code
• Experience working with user research teams to understand user needs by taking part in design sprints
• Experience collaborating with back-end development teams to design JSON APIs used by the user interface
• Experience with automated testing and continuous delivery pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Travis, Ansible) and using GitHub for source code management
• Experience developing and maintaining containerized applications, such as Docker with Kubernetes orchestration
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise composing user interfaces from packages using npm and Yarn
• Experience building Section 508-compliant solutions
• Experience with web visualization technologies such as D3, three.js, or Highcharts
• Experience using web mapping tools such as Mapbox or Leaflet.js
• Prior engagement at CFPB or other federal financial regulators (e.g., FDIC, OCC, SEC, FRB, NCUA)
• Experience delivering solutions in a federal FISMA Moderate or comparable security-compliance environment
